Fulwood House
In August 2007 MDA were commissioned to develop designs for a new family dwelling on a prominent site in Fulwood on the outskirts of Sheffield. The site sits within a conservation area and is surrounded by mature trees. Full planning and conservation area consent was achieved within an 8 week submission period for the new proposals with an existing 1970’s house and several mature trees to be removed. A restrictive covenant was also removed following detailed negotiation for the new proposals.
The design is orientated to maximise sunlight throughout the day; benefiting from natural heat gains in the winter, whilst shading the house during the summer. The internal layout responds to the views from the house and when natural light is required. Natural materials are proposed throughout with the main body of the house is to be timber framed.
The existing house has been removed from site and construction information is currently being developed for an anticipated start on site in autumn 2009.
