Northumberland Place
In November 2005 the practice was engaged to refurbish and upgrade an existing house, which dates from 1850, in the conservation area of Northumberland Place, Notting Hill, London.
A modern, comfortable and light environment was created within the framework of the existing house.
The original features of the house were maintained and visually enhanced by the juxtaposition of a new contemporary internal fit out. The basement area was completely opened up to form a communal area, blending the social functions of living, cooking, eating, lounging and outdoor enjoyment within one free flowing space.
Frameless glazing and careful placement of bespoke lighting and contemporary furniture were used to express a greater feeling of light and openness within a demanding floor area.
Work commenced on site in May 2006 & was completed in March 2007.

Fireplace
A number of existing features were refurbished within the property, siting comfortably against the modern interiors.
The existing coving was recast and reinstated after sections were cut from the original and cleaned up.
The existing fireplace was stripped of years of painting to reveal the marble mantlepiece and surround. This was reset over a new slate hearth and recommissioned.
